SOP For Vibro Sifter
Standard Operating Procedure for Vibro Sifter or vibratory
sifter also known as Russel Sifter.
1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this
SOP is to develop a standard procedure for operating the Vibro Sifter.
2.0 Scope
This SOP is applicable
for the Vibro Sifter used in the mixing or granulation area of the production
section.
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Machine Operator
is responsible for operating the Vibro Sifter.
3.2 Production
Pharmacist is responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 The HOP is
responsible for ensuring the implementation of the current SOP.
3.4 Q.A. Officer
monitors the compliance of this SOP.
Note
Different models of
the vibro sifter are available with single or multiple discharging chutes where
in single chute models only one sieve is used for sieving & in two or three
chute models more than one sieves are used for sifting & size separation
according to particle size.
4.0 Procedure
4.1 Pharmacist will
ensure that the Vibro Sifter, sieves & the area are properly cleaned.
4.2 Pharmacist will
ensure that the Vibro Sifter & the area is labeled with product-related
labels
4.3 After ensuring the
cleaning of the vibratory sifter & checking the sieve's integrity take line
clearance from the Quality Assurance officer.
4.4 Quality assurance
officer shall also verify the Sieve number & its integrity according to
BMR.
4.5 After line
clearance assemble the sieve & other parts,insert the wire plug of the
Vibro sifter into the wall-mounted socket.
4.6 Press the On
Button to turn Russel sifter/Vibro sifter On.
4.7 Attach the
polythene bag to the discharging chute or chutes of the sifter depending on the
model of the Vibro sifter or place a container/containers to collect sieved or
sifted materials.
4.8 Add material to be
sieved or sifted from the charging port with the help of SS scope and turn On
the Vibratory system.
4.9 Adjust the
Vibrations according to the nature of the material & complete all the
sieving or sifting processes.
4.10 After completion
of the sieving or sifting process, turn off the Vibro sifter, remove the
container or polythene bag containing the material, weigh it & label it.
4.11 Remove the wire
of the Vibro sifter, attach 'To be cleaned label' and record the activity in
the logbook of Vibro sifter.
