Calibration of Friability Test Apparatus

Calibration of Friabilator

¨  Calibration of friability test apparatus i.e Friabilator include following parameters.

¨  Calibration of Revolution Per Minute

¨  Calibration of Timer

Calibration of RPM

¨  Switch on the instrument and check that is the instrument is ready to be operate.

¨  Set the RPM at value of 25.

¨  Press start button and operate the instrument for 4 minutes and then stop.

¨  Count number of revolutions manually.

¨  Calculate number number of revolution per minute using following formula

¨  RPM= Number of revolutions

                  total time (Minutes)

¨  Record the data obtained.

¨  Repeat the same procedure for 50RPM and 100RPM.

Calibration of Timer

¨  Switch on the instrument and check that is the instrument is ready to be operate.

¨  If the instrument is ready to be operate then set the timer at 4 minutes.

¨  Take a pre-calibrated stopwatch.

¨  Start the instrument and pre-calibrated stopwatch simultaneously.

¨  Observe the time on the instrument and stopwatch keenly.

¨  Record the data on calibration sheet.

¨  Repeat the same for 8 to 12 times.

Acceptance Criteria

¨  RPM---- 25±1/min

¨  Timer----- ±5 seconds

If both the test parameters were find within the acceptance range instrument should be tagged as “calibrated”. In case of any failure concerned person should be informed.
