Difference among Calibration, Validation and Qualification

Calibration

  1. A set of operations carried out on an instrument or device used for measuring, recording and controlling of data like weight, pH etc under specified conditions to demonstrate that the instrument or device is performing accurately.
  2. A reference standard will be used during the performance of such actions.
  3. Calibration will be carried out periodically.

Validation

  1.  A documented demonstration to prove that any process, procedure, method, system or any other activity will actually and consistently lead to the expected results.
  2. In fact validation is a documented proof of the expected and required results in consistent way of any process, procedure, method or system.

Qualification

  1. A set of actions to establish and provide documented evidence that any system, equipment or premises are properly design, installed and are capable of consistently operating at established and specified limits and leads towards the expected results.
  2. Qualification is a part of validation.
