Calibration of Volumetric Flask
Calibration of 100 ml Volumetric Flask
¨ Properly wash, clean, dry and cool the flask.
¨ Put the clean flask on weighing balance and
tare it.
¨ Fill the flask with distilled water up to the
mark i.e 100ml.
¨ Note the temperature of water with the help
of calibrated thermometer.
¨ Note down the observed weight in grams as “W”
¨ Now determine the volume in ml using
following formula
¨ Volume (in ml) = weight (in gm.)
0.997
¨ 0.997 is density of distilled water at 25oC.
¨ Repeat the process for 3 times to attain
consistent results.
¨ Variation in volume can be calculate using
following equation
¨ Volume Variation (+ml) = Theoretical
volume – Actual volume
¨ In case of volumetric flask having capacity
more than 100ml its final volume can be calculated in multiple steps using
50-100ml burette of Class A.
