Mebeverine HCl
quantitative Analysis On UV Visible Spectrophotometer
Active Raw Material & Dosage Forms
¨ By
Applying the below method of testing of Mebeverine HCl we can quantitatively
analyze active raw material, and different formulated dosage forms.
¨ Absorbance
will be measured at 263 nm using
UV-Visible Spectrophotometer.
¨ Solvent
Used Methanol (CH3OH)
¨ Standard
Preparation: Accurately weight Mebeverine HCl working standard 50mg using
butter paper and transfer it to a 50ml volumetric flask.
¨ Add
20ml of methanol and sonicate for 15 minutes. Then make up the volume with
methanol up to 50ml.
¨ Further
take 1 ml of this solution into 50ml volumetric flask and make up the volume up
to 50ml with methanol.
¨ Sample
Preparation: Accurately weight sample equivalent to 50 mg of Mebeverine HCl
and transfer it to a 50ml volumetric flask.
¨ Add
20ml of methanol, first sonicate for 15 minutes and then stir for further 10
minutes. Make up the volume with methanol up to 50ml.
¨ Filter
the sample through whatman filter paper.
¨ Further
take 1 ml of this solution into 50ml volumetric flask and make up the volume up
to 50ml with methanol.
¨ In
case of granules, pellets and tablets it is necessary to crush the sample and
make fine powder sample foe better solubility.
¨ Measure
the absorbance of both sample and standard solutions in a 1 cm quartz cell on a
U.V/ Visible spectrophotometer at 263 nm.
¨ Calculation:
¨ %age
= Abs. of sample x conc. of stand x
100
¨ Abs. Standard x conc. of sample
